For Quail Adults, to ensure that Male Quails can feast together with Female Quails without falling sick – the feed formulated when you purchased here adopts a 2-part feed system. 

Here is how a 2-part feed system looks like for all breeds of Adult Quails :

Separate trays for base feed and calcium ( egg shell powder ) can prevent harmful overconsumption by males while supporting egg-laying females.

For the egg-laying female quails: The process of producing eggshells requires more calcium than a male quail. If they don’t get enough from their diet, their bodies will leach it from their own bones, leading to weakness, fractures, and thin-shelled or shell-less eggs. Having a dedicated calcium tray allows them to self-regulate and consume as much as they need to stay healthy and lay strong healthy eggs.

For the male quails: Male quails have no biological need for high levels of calcium. When they consume too much, it can lead to serious health issues, including kidney damage, formation of urinary stones, which are often fatal. By providing calcium source in a separate tray or placing cuttlefish bone separately on the cage wall, males are not forced to consume it when they eat their base feed, effectively preventing this dangerous overconsumption of calcium that affects their health negatively.

In short, this simple method ensures each male and female quail bird gets the right nutrients for their health without compromising the needs of each bird gender when living together in the same cage space.
